The “Novel Discussion” book club meets on the 4th Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Oak Lawn Library in the auditorium.
The book the club is reading in October is “Dangerous Waters” by Toni Anderson.
The book the club will read in November is “The Rosie Project: by Graeme Simsion.
Save the Date for the North Texas Day of Giving Sept. 14, 2017 from 6 a.m. till midnight. This is the largest one day of charitable giving in the US. The Oak Lawn Library Friends (OLLF) is participating in this event. We have donors who will match the first $1000 dollars of gifts dollar for dollar.
Donations can only be made online at https://northtexasgivingday.org. Search for Oak Lawn Library Friends and make your donation that day between 6 a.m. and midnight.
Children and adults can now sign up for the Mayor’s Summer Reading Club. You can record your hours reading and learn new things. Badges are given for various tasks and prizes are awarded.
Oak Lawn Library Friends (OLLF) will hold a “Spring Fling/Customer Appreciation Mixer” on Tuesday, April 25th from 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. at Zephyr’s Restaurant, 4001 Cedar Springs Road. There will be light appetizers at this event and a cash bar. There will be drawings for raffle prizes during this event.
This is the first membership recruitment event as OLLF embarks on a campaign to increase membership and awareness of the work we do for the library.
Jeff Thiebeault, membership chairman, encourages all members to bring a guest as a prospective member. Thiebeault indicates that he would like to see OLLF double the membership in the next year.
Take a break from that book, come chill in the nook with snacks, drinks, games and conversation.
Join us and learn American Sign Language. Program includes practicing sign language, games and socializing without words. Program is free and runs for 12 weeks.
Join us for free art lessons at the library. Lessons will cover charcoal, cartooning, inks and open studio over the course of 14 weeks. All materials will be provided. All ages are welcome.

DALLAS (Nov. 24, 2016) – Remember what it’s like turning the big 2-0? We don’t either, but we’re still going to woop it up with a big party. The Oak Lawn Branch Library is turning 20!
We will have games and activities for all ages at our free birthday party and anniversary celebration at the Oak Lawn Branch Library, which is part of the Dallas Public Library system.
Please join us for cake and punch, live entertainment, a local musician and plenty of time for arts and crafts.
This free event is open to the public and everyone is invited to attend. It’s perfect for families — this is a birthday party not to be missed!
